Locktime is the time from when the trigger releases the hammer, till the hammer hits the firing pin. That's time during which the rifle can swing off-target. And with a heavy hammer, that's a long time. The ShootingSight Speed Hammer starts with a stock hammer, and spare metal is machined away, reducing polar moment of inertia by 38%, and improving locktime by 20% from 8.5ms to 6.8ms, a gain of 1.7 milliseconds.
